The Edgecumbe Choir has been a source of fine choral music for the Eastern Bay of Plenty since 1957.
2007 is the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the Edgecumbe Choir. It arose out of the choir of St David’s Presbyterian Church in Edgecumbe, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand, which was formed in the late 1940s.
Over the years, under devoted local conductors and a number of guest conductors, the choir has built a solid reputation and has no difficulty in attracting from around the country soloists and accompanists of high calibre.
In 2000, rehearsals were moved to Whakatane, where the bulk of membership resides. The Edgecumbe Choir is a member of the New Zealand Choral Federation, Te Kotahitanga Manu Reo o Aotearoa
